BIRDS OF A FEATHER 2023
Curated by Ragna Fróðadóttir, BIRDS OF A FEATHER brought together a group of distinguished artists, each presenting two works that reflected the themes of duality, balance, and the versatility of textile-based art. The exhibition highlighted abstract textiles across diverse mediums, emphasizing the dialogue between materials, textures, and artistic expression.
By presenting two pieces per artist, the exhibition explored contrasts and connections within individual practices, revealing how balance and duality could take shape in textile art. The works celebrated both the intimacy of material exploration and the expansiveness of abstract form, offering viewers a layered experience of textiles as a contemporary art language.
During the month of September, New York Textile Month partnered with L’SPACE Gallery in Chelsea, designating the gallery as the official headquarters of the festival from September 1 to October 1. The lower level of the gallery became home to this exhibition as well as a series of events, creating a vibrant hub for the celebration of textiles in contemporary culture.
Organized in collaboration with L’SPACE Gallery, BIRDS OF A FEATHER stood as a testament to the richness of textile practices and the shared creative spirit that connects artists across mediums.
