FIBRATION 2023
In an ever-evolving art world where creativity knows no bounds, textiles have risen to the forefront as a new form of expressionism, pushing the boundaries of fiber art. FIBRATION was an innovative group exhibition curated by Ragna Fróðadóttir in collaboration with L’SPACE Gallery.
The showcase featured a lineup of renowned artists who embraced textiles as their chosen medium, reshaping the landscape of contemporary art. Participating artists included Liz Collins, Joy Curtis, Melissa Dadourian, Regina Durante Jestrow, Lelia Bacchi Curotto Levy, Courtney Puckett, Michelle Segre, and Denise Treizman. Each presented dynamic works ranging from intricately designed two-dimensional pieces to striking three-dimensional freestanding sculptures.
These creations reflected the ongoing revival of textiles as a potent and expressive medium. The exhibition explored the prominence of fiber art in contemporary practice, demonstrating the material’s capacity to inspire innovation while drawing on its deep cultural roots. FIBRATION revealed the rich possibilities and boundless potential of textiles as celebrated artists pushed the limits of expression and expanded the language of contemporary art.
